UTM+ is an engagement incentive program geared to help students get the “plus” out of their UT Martin experience. Students that engage in UTM+ programs and resources will earn entries to be selected for incentives. Each month random students will be selected to receive prizes such as UTM apparel, gift cards, and electronics. The ultimate incentive will be scholarships that will be in awarded each April.
How to do students participate? Simply engage in the activities, resources, and programs designated by the UTM+ program. Weekly email messages will go out to students promoting UTM+ programs.
Entries for incentives will accumulate the full academic year so students earning entries will be eligible for incentives the full year.
UTM+ Programming focuses on three areas: Student Success, Student Development, and Student Well-Being. Programming and services in each focus area earn a different level of entries for the program. Below are the focus area, programs/services, and entry values.

UTM+ Engagement - Focus Areas and Programs
Student Success – achieving academic excellence, personal growth, and goal attainment.
Participation in this focus area earns a student (5) entries for incentives for each engagement.
- Engaging in Academic Support Resources (Supplemental Instruction, the Mathematics Learning Center, STEM Lab, and Writing Center)
- Participating in Academic Speaker Programs
- Participating in Paul Meek Library Programming
- Earning the Chancellors Honor Roll distinction
- Participating in Women in Stem Programming
- Participating in the Call Me Mister® program
Student Development – personal skill development, hands-on learning, and cultural exploration.
Participation in this focus area earns a student (3) entries for incentives for each engagement.
- Utilizing Career Planning and Development resources such resume reviews, mock interviews, and interest inventories. Attending CPAD programming such as skill development workshops and career fairs.
- Participation in a Travel Study Trip sponsored by the Center for Global Education and Experience.
- Participation in Multicultural Affairs programming.
- Participation in the Center for Women and Gender Equality programming.
- Attending Fine Arts Programming such as concerts and play productions.
- Participation in Community Service Activities (sponsored by or reported to the Office of Student Life).
Student Well-Being – developing community, belonging, and overall well-being.
Participation in this focus area earns a student (1) entry for incentives for each engagement.
Engagement examples:
- Attending Skyhawk Athletic Events.
- Participation in Campus Recreation Intramurals and Group Fitness Classes.
- Attending Care Team or Student Health and Counseling Programming.

UTM+ Leadership Challenge
Student Affairs will launch the UTM+ Leadership Challenge in Fall 2025
as the next phase of the UTM+ program.
This pilot initiative is designed to support first-year students in developing their leadership skills through the Student Leadership Challenge curriculum.
Program Purpose
- Explore the 5 Practices of Leadership in a cohort model guided by UTM Staff Mentors.
- Guide first-year students through leadership theory and learning activities.
- Develop the leadership skills of first-year students.
- Expose first-year students to leadership opportunities on campus.
